Miss Hooty Arrives!

Guess who has finally arrived? Our owl friend, Miss Hooty, arrived last week. She is a red-phase Screech Owl. We are so happy to have her!

You can visit Miss Hooty too! She is behind the Nature Center in a big mew (that's an enclosure for raptors).

Ask a naturalist how to find her and say hello! More to follow on Screech Owls later.

I Do!

The American Toads in our pond are finding their soul mates! Right now, you can hear them singing when you enter the park, and then see them up close in the Wildlife Management Area during your hike.

Look for long strings of eggs in the water too. They look like macaroni.

Soon we will have many toad tadpoles, but no toads (in the water). So get out to ORNC while the toads are here. They don't swim around forever!
